englischFamily businesses are typically considered to be companies with a small group of shareholders dominated by a few family members. In practice, however, there also exist family businesses with hundred or more shareholders. Such family businesses are thus similar to public companies known from the law of partnerships. Against this background, the book combines the only apparently contradictory concepts of family businesses and public companies to the concept of a family-owned public company and examines using the example of the GmbH & Co. KG, to what extent challenges and problems this type of company faces can be solved by taking recourse to the regulations concerning public partnerships.
