englischThe book examines the history of the development and background of public economic activity. It shows that municipal economic activity in Germany was originally subject to fiscal or policy objectives, which were increasingly abandoned in favor of general regulatory provisions. Accordingly, the municipal economy is closely linked to political economic positions. The article focuses on this connection and analyzes the ideological patterns of the party-political discourse on public economic activity, which had led to numerous privatisations and remunicipalizations in recent years.
