englischVarious aid measures since 2010 have prevented a default by the heavily indebted Greece, but without significantly reducing the government debt ratio. This goal is to be achieved through an exchange of privately held government bonds with a simultaneous reduction in nominal value in February 2012. This thesis examines the bond exchange on the basis of the legal position of German holders of bonds under Greek law with regard to its compatibility with international and European law, in particular investment protection law, and examines legal protection options for creditors. At the time of writing, there was no study that took a comprehensive and in-depth look at the position of the affected creditors.
