englischMulticulturalism, identity politics, race – these are keywords of our contemporary political situation. This text argues that a politics that addresses these concepts must start from the premise that liberal modernity represents a rupture with all forms of community developed by the species until the modern era. Thinking this politics means placing the individual again into the cultural situation whose integrity has been the object of attack by liberals ever since. It involves acknowledging our dependence on traditions legitimated by a view of man as not as autonomous maker of the world according to principles of reason but as the result of an acceptance of religious transcendence acting in the world.
