englischThe Geneva Refugee Convention (GRC), as the core of international refugee law, regulates the legal status of refugees in the contracting states. Its fourth chapter addresses access to certain social rights: To rationing systems, to housing, to education, to public welfare and to social security systems. This thesis examines which provisions arise from the Refugee Convention and whether these are sufficiently implemented in German law for the more than 1.2 million refugees admitted to Germany. EU law is also included in the analysis. Within the framework of the study, implementation deficits were identified, particularly with regard to the legal status during the recognition procedure.
