englischIn 2018, German agricultural land law celebrates its hundredth year of existence. It was created in 1918, during World War I, and rewritten during the Nazi era, it has been part of real estate law since 1961. At the moment, this area of law is experiencing a renaissance due to substantially increased land prices. Terms such as family farm enterprise, non-agricultural investors and land grabbing dominate the debate. Due to the 2006 reform of the federal system (I), the legislative power has shifted from federal to federal state level, who have been carrying out legislative activities since. This work aims to present and document the legal historical development. Furthermore, it offers commentary, based on selected draft laws, on the current debate, thereby rendering it understandable. It also includes references to the debate at European level.
