englischThe Wirecard scandal has made it clear that the functionality of the German auditing market is limited. This book sheds light on the economic correlations that are responsible for this. It also proposes measures that can be taken to restore the functioning of competition. The book focuses on conducting a comparative analy-sis of several reform options, particularly examining instruments that address the market structure, including, for example, joint audits and (managed) shared audits. This study thus makes a contribution to the assessment of various instruments that are regularly discussed in both politics and academia.

Der Wirecard-Skandal hat verdeutlicht, dass die Funktionsfähigkeit der deutschen Wirtschaftsprüfungsmarktes eingeschränkt ist. Dieses Buch beleuchtet ökonomische Zusammenhänge, die ursächlich dafür sind, und zeigt Maßnahmen auf, die ergriffen werden können, um die Funktionsfähigkeit des Wettbewerbs wiederherzustellen. Im Fokus der Analyse steht die vergleichende Betrachtung mehrerer Reformoptionen. Den Schwerpunkt bilden Instrumente, die an der Marktstruktur ansetzen. Dazu gehören u. a. Joint Audits und (Managed) Shared Audits. Damit leistet das Buch einen Beitrag zur Beurteilung verschiedener Instrumente, die in der Politik aber auch in der Wissenschaft regelmäßig diskutiert werden.
