englischThis book fills a gap in existing research on understanding conflicts by developing the conceptual prerequisites for such an understanding philosophically, by examining the elements which commonly underlie conflicts and by analysing their reciprocal effects. This results in a phenomenology of conflicts which ranges from interpersonal to international disputes. Therefore, this book provides an in-depth insight into the backgrounds to conflicts and the way they are waged. With the reader understanding the counter-intuitive nature of conflicts, the author is able to underline the paradoxical effect of solutions to conflicts: intervening in a conflict usually exacerbates it rather than improving it.
