englischIn the EU’s Member States, the influence of the single market has made a decisive contribution to sport losing its right to act independently of the constitution using its own rules and regulations, the clearest example of which is the so-called Bosman ruling. At the same time, however, the initiatives and interventions of EU institutions plus the fact that sport was embedded into the Treaty of Lisbon have given sport a great deal of impetus on a European level. Against this backdrop, a growing number of people involved in sports have begun to take a keener interest in policymaking in Brussels, while at the same time an increasing number of conflicts of interest have emerged in sport.
This book not only provides an overview of the most important stages in the development of European sports policy, but also examines the key problem areas and figures involved in it. In addition, it highlights academic approaches to and analytical perspectives on Europe’s policy on sport.
In den Mitgliedstaaten der Europäischen Union hat der Einfluss des Binnenmarkts – am deutlichsten sichtbar geworden im sogenannten Bosman-Urteil – entscheidend dazu beigetragen, dass der Sport keine „extrakonstitutionelle“ Sonderrolle mit eigenen Regulierungsmechanismen beanspruchen kann. Zugleich wurden durch die Initiativen und Interventionen der EU-Organe sowie die Verankerung des Sports im Vertragswerk von Lissabon zahlreiche sportbezogene Impulse auf europäischer Ebene gegeben. Vor diesem Hintergrund widmen mittlerweile immer mehr Akteure des Sports ihre Aufmerksamkeit der Politikgestaltung in Brüssel, während sich zugleich eine zunehmende Zahl von Interessenkonflikten im Sport abzeichnet.
Der Band vermittelt sowohl einen Überblick über die wichtigsten Etappen europäischer Sportpolitik als auch eine Bestandsaufnahme der zentralen Problemfelder und Akteure des Politikfelds. Darüber hinaus untersucht er wissenschaftliche Zugänge und Analyseperspektiven europäischer Sportpolitik.
