englischWhat are the incentives of people who take part in civic engagement concerning the admission of refugees into their country? Based on activities either to support and help refugees or to limit their admission and intensify refugee policies, this representative study focuses on personal motives, values and goals. It shows that not only do socio-structural characteristics and specific issues have to be considered as explanatory factors, but so do fundamental lines of conflict. Signs of obvious polarisation are rarely found. However, different priorities are just as much expressions of acting on subjective maxims, and therefore there are no simple solutions to bridging ideological divisions.

The book is volume 2 of this research project and offers readers an exciting insight into the motives, values and goals of those involved. Both volumes can also be purchased as a package.
