englischHuman research is fundamentally indispensable when it comes to ensuring adequate medical treatment. However, research becomes controversial when people incapable of making decisions are included in clinical trials. This conference volume examines this question with regard to two types of people: those who are not yet capable of making decisions, namely minors and adolescents, and those who are no longer capable of making decisions, namely people with dementia. Not only are legal and ethical questions discussed, but so are the points of view of those physicians who treat people who are incapable of making decisions. Finally, the perspectives of the children and parents affected are illuminated from a psychologist's point of view.
