englischThe contributions contained in this book try to illuminate some aspects of Sorel’s thinking, focusing on his criticism of several tendencies of his time. According to Sorel, workers’ struggles should not be limited to obtaining small material advantages but must be considered against the backdrop of the general strike, in which Sorel sees a motivating myth through which workers can elevate their trivial empirical existence into a sphere of the sublime. In this way, Georges Sorel can be seen as a representative of aristocratic socialism.
