englischLatin America is puzzling: Politicians often celebrate Latin America as a peaceful region. However, their slogans conflict with the reality of everyday life there. The region is characterised by a high level of violence and for years has consistently recorded one of the highest incidences of violence globally. Nevertheless, Latin America is also a place where innovative conflict resolution mechanisms take place. This book aims to contribute to analysis of the concurrence of widespread violence and innovative approaches to conflict resolution. It adopts an interdisciplinary perspective and highlights current dynamics based on single-case and comparative studies as well as conceptual discussions.
