englischSince the foundation of the European Union, especially since the entry into force of the Treaty of Lisbon, the importance of international law has been emphasized in European primary law. However, the EU's commitment ‘the strict observance and the development of international law’ has been increasingly called into question by the conclusion of certain association and trade agreements or by the opening of the European internal market to territories with unclear territorial allocation.

The aim of this thesis is to define the limits of freedom of action within the framework of the common European trade policy in the context of disputed territories and to evaluate European measures against the yardstick of international and European law.
