englischThis book addresses the duty of supplying information on charity-linked promotions due to the implementation of Directive 2005/29/EC. These are promotions for convenience goods run by third parties who claim that purchasing them will benefit a charity or cause. This book focuses on misleading omissions (§ 5 UWG) and the rules of the British Committee of Advertising Practice (CAP-Code). It provides helpful guidelines for the legal profession as well as for companies and NGOs. Because of the subjectivity of marketing communication and the highly emotional subjects promoted by the beneficiaries, there is a high risk of them influencing customers’ decisions to buy and misleading them by omission. In conclusion, the book provides a concrete proposal for a unified solution on the European level.
