englischThe ubiquity of photos of children on the Internet has long been the subject of much public and controversial debate. However, on the whole only adults have expressed their opinions on this issue until now. This study closes a gap in research by analysing this issue from the perspective of 11- to 12-year-old children using guided interviews. In doing so, it examines questions relating to the ways in which children prefer to use photos online and how they present themselves in them, as well as questions about intrafamilial rules on multimedia use and parents’ attitudes to dealing with children and family pictures in online environments. Due to its extensive description of the author’s methodical approach, this volume will provide students especially with a helpful introduction to collecting data using guided interviews and to evaluating that data using qualitative content analysis.

»Die ausführliche Veranschaulichung des methodischen Vorgehens macht den Band zu einem hilfreichen Einstieg in die qualitative Medienforschung mit Kindern.«
