englischRatings on the internet have an enormous influence on consumers' demand decisions. They can reduce information asymmetries and thus strengthen the free development of market forces. This, however, only holds true if the information as well as its preparation and presentation are reliable. The on-going discussion about the liability of providers of internet rating platforms has so far neglected unfair competition law. Setting focus on this legal area the book comprehensively examines the provider’s liability for the publication of third-party reviews as well as for the design of the portal and the review process. It already covers the amendments to the UCP Directive made by the Omnibus Directive and their implementation into German law.
