The author argues that the public involvement with the provision of infrastructure can be justifiable, but that federal and state grants for local authorities are the reason for regional overcapacities and should therefore be avoided.
Die oftmals kritisierte Subventionierung der deutschen Flughafeninfrastruktur und damit einhergehende Überkapazitäten werden in diesem Buch mit der Theorie des Marktversagens analysiert. Es wird argumentiert, dass zwar der öffentliche Einfluss bei der Bereitstellung der Infrastruktur unter bestimmten Annahmen zu rechtfertigen ist, insbesondere aber vertikale Finanzmittelzuweisungen für die regionalen Überkapazitäten verantwortlich sind und unterbunden werden sollten.
