englischThe Israeli–Palestinian conflict is one of the most controversial issues even among people who are not involved personally, with one of the reasons being the geographical and symbolic importance of the region. In eight research reports, this book offers guidance on major points of contention relating to the conflict: the relationship between Holocaust trauma and settler colonialism, the notorious poem by Günter Grass, the accusations of antisemitism against Achille Mbembe, the role of the USA and the Israel lobby, and recent shitstorms against a Middle East specialist.
The author has been involved in peace research and international relations for more than fifty years, focusing in particular on arms race dynamics in the East-West conflict and later the Middle East conflict.
Der israelisch-palästinensische Konflikt führt auch bei den nicht unmittelbar Beteiligten immer wieder zu heftigen Auseinandersetzungen. Das hängt u.a. mit den großen historischen Konfliktlinien zusammen, die sich in der Nahost-Region kreuzen. Das Buch bietet in acht Forschungsberichten und Analysen Orientierungshilfen zu zentralen Streitpunkten: dem Spannungsverhältnis zwischen Holocausttrauma und Siedlungskolonialismus, dem notorischen Gedicht von Günter Grass, den Antisemitismus-Vorwürfen gegen Achille Mbembe; der Rolle der USA und der Israel-Lobby, den Shitstorms gegen eine Nahost-Expertin.
Der Autor hat sich als Friedens- und Konfliktforscher insbesondere mit der Rüstungsdynamik im Ost-West-Konflikt und mit dem Nahost-Konflikt beschäftigt.
