englischEveryone talks about sport. Everyone about something different. This lack of clarity hinders a practical, pedagogical, administrative, economic and political approach to sport that makes sense. A philosophy of sport has to clear this up, i.e. it has to enlighten. First of all, this means developing a meaningful concept of sport. A distinction must be made between sport in the narrow sense as a cultural good and sport in the broad sense as a social good. This twofold intrinsic value of the idea of sport and the guarantee of its dignity and autonomy must be at the centre of all action in this field. They determine and limit its intrinsic value and right. In this way, it dictates to all those involved in sport what is and is not permissible in practical, pedagogical, economic, legal and political terms.
