englischAchieving ambitious expansion targets for onshore wind energy is a key component of Germany’s energy transition. Effective steering is to be achieved using a variety of instruments. The failure to achieve the expansion targets illustrates the complexity of this project.

Based on political steering theory, this book traces the lines of development of state support for the expansion of wind energy, focusing on analysing measures that have emerged from amendments to the Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG). It evaluates influential factors at state level using a qualitative comparative analysis (QCA) and presents and explains in detail increases in the complexity of, inconsistencies in and linkages to the policy mix.
