englischStreet photography shows the life of people in public space, unadulterated and authentic. However, this genre is in constant conflict with the personal rights of the people depicted. This topic has become particularly virulent because the production and publication of photographs have increased at an inflationary rate in recent decades. The dissertation analyses how German and European law – especially after the introduction of the GDPR – attempt to resolve the tense relationship between the photographer and the persons depicted, and shows that for legal dogmatic as well as for factual reasons, legislative intervention appears to be reasonable.
