englischHow do we cope with increasing quantities of electronic data while subjecting them to ever-stricter legal standards? Is regulation with the goal of net neutrality the right means to address limited cable capacity or would free market mechanisms be more feasible? This inquiry tries to answer these questions by analysing the relevant markets and motives of the market actors. In the centre of the discussion are questions of competition law and the self-regulation of the market as well as potentially negative effects of EU Regulation 2015/2120, which by and large guarantees net neutrality. In particular, the problems of blocking, restricting and prioritising data streams by access providers as well as termination rates and special services are accounted for in the course of the book.
