englischEuropeanisation is ubiquitous but also country-specific as it works differently in every EU Member State. This study does not simply describe these tendencies, but also attempts to explain why convergences or divergences among the Member States occur and, in doing so, furthers the discussion on the nature of Europeanisation.

The influence of European Union law on five central topics of administrative law (discretion, conclusiveness, access to administrative justice, interim measures and liability) are compared in five Member States (Austria, the Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary and the UK) in order to illuminate the driving forces behind Europeanisation and its limitations, and also to answer the question of which legal and social factors influence the successful legal implementation of EU law.
