englischThis study provides an in-depth and context-oriented analysis of judicial review in the Republic Senegal. It analyses the socio-political foundations as well as the institutional set-up, the competences, and the jurisprudence of the Constitutional Council and thus investigates its specific role in Senegal’s political system. As Senegal is a rare example of political and social stability, its constitutional regime is however characterized by various amendments, the study gives valuable insight for comparative constitutional law. Moreover French-speaking countries in West Africa have not featured significantly in research outside of francophone academia.
