englischThe dissertation deals with various models by which the indefinite legal concepts of § 2 of the German Animal Protection Act are concretised.

The German Animal Protection Act obliges the animal owner to appropriately feed, care for and accommodate an animal according to its species and its needs.

What is deemed "species-appropriate" and "behaviour-fair" must be specified by concretisation.

According to the history of the German Animal Protection Law, this concretisation should take place through regulations. Sublegal expert reports, as well as scientific statements, also contribute to a concretisation.

This dissertation takes a closer look at the German Animal Protection Livestock Regulation and the Mammalian Report. The conformity of these concrete models with the requirements of the German Animal Protection Law is not always given.
