englischModern technologies have paved the way for a new digital era: contracts are not only concluded electronically, transcending national borders, but frequently also include digital content. This is evidenced by the Proposal for a Directive of the European Parliament and of the Council on certain aspects concerning contracts for the supply of digital content. The proposal raises questions about contract type, legal succession, data protection and copyright, and shows that the "digital revolution" can only be perceived as a common European challenge.

In this conference volume, academics from Spanish and German law schools discuss contractual issues concerning digital content from a national and European perspective:

Is the contract concerning digital content a new type of contract? What follows from the recognition of personal data as a consideration? What happens to personal data after one’s death? And what impact can be determined for intellectual property?
