englischBehind the façade of the allegedly superficial, entertainment-oriented animated movie world of Walt Disney, a complex universe of film music functionality reveals itself that is characterized by great attention to detail and remarkable multilayeredness of composition, especially in terms of the different functions that film music performs within the narration of the movies.

Perspicacious and musically profound, the author describes in detail, plausibly, and eloquently the underlying structure of Disney’s animated film music. Exemplarily, three well-known Disney-movies are analyzed which represent three certain eras of the Walt Disney studios: Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937), The Jungle Book (1967) and Beauty and the Beast (1991).

In conclusion, Disney’s animated film music gives greater depth to the narrated story and more sharpness to the moving images.

&raquoDie Autorin verfügt über die große Fähigkeit, die Filmmusik und ihre Beziehung zu den Handlungsmomenten genau zu beschreiben.&laquo
