englischIn her study ‘Zufällig liberal?’, Debora Müller uses grounded theory to create a theory about the development and content of liberal Muslims’ understanding of Islam and their positioning in the midst of Germany’s Islamic landscape.
This positioning is characterised by differentiation from large associations and places the expression of religious needs at the centre of liberal Muslims’ lives. They develop their understanding of Islam with the help of the Islamic legal method iǧtihād, which they understand as the use of their own intellect.
This study is the first to provide an insight into the views of liberal Muslims in Germany, with the interviewees themselves having their say, so that a deep understanding of their mindset is achieved.
Debora Müller erstellt in ihrer Studie mithilfe der Grounded Theory eine Theorie über Entwicklung und Inhalt des Islamverständnisses liberaler Muslim:innen und ihre Positionierung inmitten der islamischen Landschaft Deutschlands.
Diese Positionierung ist gekennzeichnet durch Abgrenzung von großen Verbänden und stellt die Auslebung religiöser Bedürfnisse in den Mittelpunkt liberaler Muslim:innen. Ihr Islamverständnis entwickeln sie mithilfe der islamischen Rechtsmethode iǧtihād, die sie als Nutzung des eigenen Verstandes verstehen.
Die Studie gibt erstmals Einblick in Sichtweisen liberaler Muslim:innen in Deutschland, wobei die Beforschten selbst zu Wort kommen, sodass ein tiefes Verständnis ihrer Gedankenwelt erreicht wird.
