englischIn this book, experts from Europe, Latin America and the United States critically examine the question of how the states of Latin America are positioning themselves in terms of foreign policy in the changing international order. This question arises with topical urgency in the context of the Russian war against Ukraine, but also against the backdrop of the intensifying global systemic competition between the great powers of the United States and China. While Beijing has greatly expanded its involvement in Latin America, the influence of the US and Europe in the region is declining. Latin America wants to keep all its options open for its own benefit, but so far there has been no sign of a joint presence on the international stage.

Während Peking sein Engagement in Lateinamerika stark ausgebaut hat, ist der Einfluss der USA und Europas in der Region rückläufig. Lateinamerika will sich zum eigenen Vorteil alle Optionen offenhalten, ein gemeinsames Auftreten auf der internationalen Bühne ist jedoch bislang nicht erkennbar.
