A group of academics has tried to create from these polarities a gift of friendship, intended not only for the anniversary of a Salzburg Professor of the ‘artes liberales philosophiae’ but also for everyone interested in the reception of classical culture.
Unser Theater der Gegenwart entwickelte sich im antiken Athen: ein literarisiertes Spiel, das man einstudiert und vor dem Publikum zur Aufführung bringt. Gerade zum 300. Geburtstagsfest für Johann Joachim Winckelmann wäre zu erwägen: Was lässt sich davon im deutschen Welttheater noch hörbar und sehbar machen? Kommt doch das innere Erleben in unserer Gegenwart hinzu, das den Anspruch der eigenen Persona und ihrer Präsentation in allen Facetten auf der täglichen Bühne ins Spiel bringt. Ein Kreis von Gelehrten hat versucht, aus diesen Polaritäten eine Freundschaftsgabe zu gestalten, die nicht nur einem Salzburger Jubilar der „artes liberales philosophiae“, sondern auch den Freunden der Antikerezeption zugedacht ist.
