The focus of the interdisciplinary study is a quantitative and qualitative evaluation of the intellectual debate in the media. Facts and arguments are carefully separated and systematically analysed. The history of the Kosovo conflict is presented controversially on the basis of the available sources. Using the perspectives of history, political science, international law and philosophy, the discussion of the “humanitarian intervention” is embedded in the context of the great social debates of the 1990s. This is the first comprehensive and critical portrayal of the public discourse about the “Kosovo War” in Germany.
Dieses Buch beschäftigt sich mit DEM diskursiven Ereignis des Jahres 1999, dem „Kosovo-Krieg“. Er stellt eine Zäsur dar, denn seit 1945 waren zum ersten Mal deutsche Soldaten in militärische Kampfhandlungen „out of area“ verwickelt. Im Zentrum der interdisziplinären Arbeit steht eine quantitative und qualitative Auswertung der intellektuellen Feuilletondebatte. Fakten und Argumente werden sorgfältig getrennt und systematisch analysiert. Die Geschichte des Kosovo-Konflikts ist anhand der verfügbaren Quellen kontrovers dargestellt. Aus historischer, politikwissenschaftlicher, völkerrechtlicher und philosophischer Perspektive wird die Diskussion um die „humanitäre Intervention“ in den Kontext der großen Gesellschaftsdebatten der 1990er Jahre eingebettet. Damit liegt auf wissenschaftlichem Gebiet erstmals eine umfassende und kritische Gesamtdarstellung des öffentlichen Diskurses über den „Kosovo-Krieg“ in Deutschland vor.
