englischInter-religious encounters are seen as an obvious element of inter-religions dialogue, but at the same time their potential is being increasingly questioned in some learning contexts. Against this background this collection of essays seeks to encourage reflective learning through inter-religious dialogue. In this context inter-religious openness means that successful encounters facilitate a change of perspective that reflects one’s own stance, enables participation, and encourages the acceptance of cultural and religious plurality. The approach advocated here sets out to reflect practice for practitioners and therefore gives plenty of space to experiences of Christian-Islamic dialogue in various educational institutions as a form of appraisal of the current situation. This collaborative project has involved researchers and teachers from a range of universities, schools and external learning bodies from all over Germany.
