A close look at choruses in dramas of the 20th and 21st centuries reveals this relationship. How does a chorus act as a group? And what happens to this group if an individual leaves the chorus, is forced to leave it or opposes it? Choruses in dramas show how individuals and communities are related to each other. This question is especially relevant to democratic constitutions. Is the chorus to be seen as a model for a community in this respect? Jahrhundert zeigt, wie Chöre im Dramentext dieses Verhältnis bestimmen: Wie verhält sich ein Chor als Chor-Gruppe, was geschieht mit dieser Gruppe in dem Moment, in dem ein Einzelner ausschert, ausgeschlossen wird oder sich der Gruppe gegenüberstellt? Chöre im Dramentext geben Aufschluss über die in demokratisch verfassten Gesellschaften besonders relevante Frage, wie der Einzelne sich zur Gemeinschaft und wie die Gemeinschaft sich zum Einzelnen verhält. Wie, so fragt und klärt dieser Sammelband, konstituiert sich Gemeinschaft modellhaft im Chor?
