englischThe subject of people with intellectual or mental health disabilities becoming parents is controversial, with opponents questioning whether they are capable of sufficiently and appropriately providing and caring for their children. This book addresses the question of what skills people with intellectual or mental health disabilities must have in order to be able to live with their children. On the basis of a holistic analysis of families, the book demonstrates that tailor-made help has to be offered. Using the example of accompanied parenting, it reveals the importance of individual and continuous support for the whole family. In line with inclusivity, the study underlines how vital it is to expand and further develop the local support mechanisms available to such families.
