The COVID-19 pandemic triggered by the pathogen SARS-CoV-2 is always judged from the perspective of biomedicine or the pathogenetic model of disease, despite new medical theoretical findings. This thesis explains the usefulness of the biopsychosocial model according to Engel (1977) as a necessary extension of biomedicine to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic in Germany. By means of a search strategy according to the criteria of the Cochrane Foundation Germany and the science-theoretical method of falsificationism according to Karl Popper, corresponding studies on the COVID-19 pandemic in Germany will be evaluated and the current state of knowledge will be shown.

Die durch den Erreger SARS-CoV-2 ausgelöste COVID-19-Pandemie wird trotz neuer medizintheoretischer Erkenntnisse stets aus der Perspektive der Biomedizin bzw. des pathogenetischen Modells von Krankheit beurteilt. Diese Arbeit erläutert den Nutzen des biopsychosozialen Modells nach Engel (1977) als notwendige Erweiterung der Biomedizin zur Überwindung der COVID-19-Pandemie in Deutschland. Durch eine Suchstrategie nach den Kriterien der Cochrane Stiftung Deutschland und der wissenschaftstheoretischen Methode des Falsifikationismus nach Karl Popper sollen entsprechende Studien zur COVID-19-Pandemie in Deutschland ausgewertet und der aktuelle Wissensstand aufgezeigt werden.
