englisch60 years of the Franco-German Treaty of Friendship—an opportunity to celebrate the progress we have made together. Courageous decisions and joint efforts have made peace possible and furthered European integration. But current crises, nationalist movements, a divided political population and a lack of civil interest in a European community threaten to undermine this cooperation.

In this book, Christophe Braouet argues that a strong Europe and the social market economy should continue to be supported, not by countries going it alone but through joint efforts.

Well-being should become the political yardstick with which to regain the interest of civil society.

After studying economics and political science at Sciences Po, Christophe Braouet worked for many years in banking in France and Germany. As the child of German-French parents, he is a dual citizen and, as President of the Franco-German Society Frankfurt, has been working for understanding between the peoples since 2004. He was also a member of the University Council of the Franco-German University and is a board member of the Franco-German Institute Ludwigsburg (dfi).
