englischIn this book, a line is drawn from Tibetan Buddhist accounts of supernatural forces to contemporary efforts to understand these phenomena. The Tibetan view of body and mind differs fundamentally from the scientific perspective, so that a common denominator for a profitable dialogue is to be located. For this purpose, a foundation in the basic understanding of the respective other position is worked out by imparting basic background knowledge. This study is especially aimed at scholars and Buddhists who want to explore this field. The author offers a descriptive presentation of both starting positions, examining them with a religious studies approach.

»this book is a relevant contribution, especially for scholars interested in an interdisciplinary approach to the study of religion.«
Patricia Sophie Mayer, Religious Studies Reviews 2/2022, 304
