As a historian and sociologist, Birgit Panke-Kochinke was looking for answers to these questions. Therefore she analysed about 400 magazine novels that have been published in Germany since the 1970s.
The result: Of course, on the one hand mother’s love is a fiction, which the genre of the novel requires. But on the other hand, it is also part of a social discourse and, in its discursiveness, it forms mentality.

Das Ergebnis: Mutterliebe ist zwar eine Fiktion, die das Genre des Romans so vorgibt. Sie ist aber auch Teil eines gesellschaftlichen Diskurses und in ihrer Diskursivität mentalitätsbildend.
