englischThe effects of the climate crisis are marked by violence. However, due to a liberal understanding of violence, this violence is often not understood as such.

Jaafar Bambouk discusses the understanding of violence and its limits in relation to the climate crisis. He takes the existing liberal legal system as a starting point and includes the critical analyses of Frauke Höntzsch and Walter Benjamin. The author then examines John Rawls's concept of civil disobedience and, in the context of a climate movement that has so far been predominantly pacifist and non-violent, considers the democratic benefits of violent disobedience as a means of combating the climate crisis.
