englischPlatform capitalism may be a very recent phenomenon globally, but its impact on the labour market is already serious: increasing precarisation is shaping working conditions. This is also the case in the delivery sector, where employees have been fighting for better working conditions since 2016.
In her empirical study based on labour revitalisation studies, Stephanie Albicker uses the example of Lieferando to investigate how and why employees in the sector organise themselves, what role trade unions play in this and what advantages and disadvantages grassroots democratic collectives offer. The results are highly relevant both for science and for trade union policy practice.
Der Plattformkapitalismus ist global gesehen zwar ein sehr junges Phänomen, doch seine Auswirkungen auf den Arbeitsmarkt sind schon jetzt gravierend: Eine zunehmende Prekarisierung prägt die Arbeitsverhältnisse. So auch im Liefersektor, wo Beschäftigte seit 2016 für bessere Arbeitsbedingungen kämpfen.
Stephanie Albicker untersucht in ihrer an die Labor Revitalization Studies angelehnten, empirischen Studie am Beispiel des Unternehmens Lieferando, wie und warum sich Beschäftigte der Branche organisieren, welche Rolle Gewerkschaften dabei spielen und welche Vor- und Nachteile basisdemokratische Kollektive bieten. Die Ergebnisse sind sowohl für die Wissenschaft als auch für die gewerkschaftspolitische Praxis von hoher Relevanz.
