englischThe high prevalence of corruption in sub-Saharan Africa has been empirically proven. However, the strong regional character requires the analysis of common factors that are causal or determining for today's situation. From a historical-analytical perspective Alexandra Hacke examines to what extent practices to legitimize colonial rule, which were practiced for decades in many sub-Saharan African countries, have contributed to the emergence of current structures of political corruption. After clarifying the concepts of domination and legitimacy in Max Weber, Heinrich Popitz and Trutz von Trotha, Hacke turns to empiricism and identifies forms and legitimacies of domination.
