englischThis study analyses the persistence of Kemalist policies within Turkish political parties in the 21st century on the basis of their party and election programmes.
The findings show that the majority of currently influential Turkish parties draw on essential patterns from the Kemalist period. It is argued that the AKP also relies on the continuation of fundamental Kemalist policies, but at the same time positions itself decisively against the Kemalist elites, who are perceived as paternalistic. Thus, the party presents itself as the liberator of the Muslim nation. This combination of adopting and rejecting the Kemalist past was a decisive factor in the success of Erdoğan and his party.

Die Arbeit untersucht anhand von Partei- und Wahlprogrammen die Persistenz kemalistischer Politikentwürfe bei türkischen Parteien im 21. Jahrhundert.
Sie kommt zu dem Ergebnis, dass ein Großteil der aktuell einflussreichen türkischen Parteien auf wesentliche Denkmuster aus kemalistischer Zeit zurückgreift. Es wird argumentiert, dass auch die AKP auf die Fortführung grundlegender kemalistischer Politikentwürfe setzt, sich dabei jedoch entschieden gegen die als paternalistisch wahrgenommenen kemalistischen Eliten positioniert, indem sie die muslimische Prägung der türkischen Nation stärker hervorhebt. Das Zusammenspiel aus Übernahme und Ablehnung der kemalistischen Ära war ein entscheidender Faktor für den Erfolg Erdoğans und seiner Partei.
