englischThe focus of this study is to present Korean music, which was composed in the European tradition but at the same time shaped by Korean culture, through the discourse of its transcultural aspects. To this end, a new research method for the analysis of Korean music is outlined at the beginning on the basis of Wolfgang Welsch's concept of transculturality. The second part deals with the tendencies of Westernisation and Koreanisation and analyses on the macro level the transcultural transformations of widespread song material. On the micro level, the third part examines how transculturality is represented in the example of selected works by the contemporary composer Young Jo Lee.

»Grundzüge der Geschichte der koreanischen Musik im 20. Jahrhundert werden hier greifbar.«
Walter-Wolfgang Sparrer, Neue Zeitschrift für Musik 4/2022, 85
