In the context of cultural anthropology, which impact and meaning emanate from a textile object, and is it to be understood as an autonomous object of material culture? A cope of the libri regalia by textile artist Edith Ostendorf serves as a generic textile.
Alicia Jablonski studied Art and Communication of Art as well as Fashion-Textile-Design Studies at the University of Paderborn, Germany. This work is her thesis for which she received a grant of the city of Paderborn.
Ursprünglich in der Anthropologie und Kunstgeschichte beheimatet, erlangt die Forschung am physisch greifbaren Objekt zunehmend Gewicht als direkter Bedeutungsträger materieller Kultur. Zu diesem interdisziplinären Feld gehört auch die Textile Forschung. Sie bildet die Grundlage dieser Studie zur Herausarbeitung der Wirkung von Paramenten in der römisch-katholischen Liturgie. Inwieweit ergänzen, unterstützen oder suggerieren die textilen Objekte die kultische Wirkung der Liturgie? Welche kulturanthropologische Wirkung und Bedeutung gehen allein von dem textilen Objekt aus, und ist es als autonomes Objekt der materiellen Kultur zu verstehen? Als exemplarisches Textil dient ein Chormantel des Libori-Ornats der Textilkünstlerin Edith Ostendorf.
