englischThe European Union is unique among international organisations. The level of interdependence between the member states and the EU exceeds all previously known forms of cooperation. Since the member states have only delegated certain competences to the EU and have otherwise retained their sovereignty, the further development of the EU must be pursued in a coordinated and prudent manner. In particular, the future organisational form of the EU has not been settled. Proponents and opponents of a European federal state have an almost unmanageable "battlefield" in this respect. This work undertakes an in-depth analysis and attempts to answer the complicated question of the finality of the EU based on the model of the federal state.
Die Europäische Union stellt ein Unikum unter den internationalen Organisationen dar. Der Grad der Verflechtung zwischen den Mitgliedstaaten und der EU übertrifft alle bis dahin bekannten Kooperationsformen. Da die Mitgliedstaaten der EU nur einzelne Kompetenzen delegiert und im Übrigen ihre Souveränität behalten haben, muss die Fortentwicklung der Union abgestimmt und umsichtig betrieben werden. Nicht geregelt ist insbesondere die künftige Organisationsform der EU. Befürworter und Gegner eines europäischen Bundesstaates haben dazu ein nahezu unüberschaubares „Schlachtfeld“. Dieser Band nimmt eine eingehende Analyse vor und versucht, am Leitbild des Bundesstaates eine Antwort auf die komplizierte Frage nach der Finalität der EU zu geben.
