This enables the optimization of forms of cooperation which are indispensable for innovation processes. A knowledge-based strategy approach that focuses on the promotion of knowledge networks, however, requires a substantial knowledge of cooperation interrelations. This requires empirically based network analyses.
The regional level is of central importance as a platform for this exchange of information and knowledge. The regional knowledge network of the Hanover-Brunswick-Göttingen-Wolfsburg metropolitan region is therefore examined as an example.
Im wirtschaftlichen Strukturwandel hat sich eine wissensintensive Ökonomie durchgesetzt, die sich durch eine ausgeprägte Wissensvernetzung auszeichnet. Diese ermöglicht eine Optimierung von Kooperationsformen, ohne die Innovationsprozesse kaum noch denkbar sind. Ein wissensökonomisch fundierter Strategieansatz, der auf die Förderung von Wissensvernetzungen abstellt, setzt allerdings substanzielle Kenntnisse der Kooperationsverflechtungen voraus. Dazu bedarf es empirisch fundierter Netzwerkanalysen.
Gerade die regionale Ebene ist als Plattform für diesen Austausch von Information und Wissen von zentraler Bedeutung. Als Beispiel wird daher die regionale Wissensvernetzung der Metropolregion Hannover Braunschweig Göttingen Wolfsburg untersucht.
