englischThe idea of integrative bioethics cannot be separated from the concept of education. What we have to let the human being know can only be said to him in the most firm way and lasting way as a disciple and as a person still learning, as someone who has not yet given up the question concerning the meaning and the aim of his existence. The path of 'integrative bioethics' is also a path which leads from academic teacher to his student. We proceed along this path in the hope and the assumption that students will one day become decision makers. We want to teach them in a phase when they still can prepare for what later will be demanded of them personally, socially, politically. So we follow the Socratic promise to his student that we will return him a better person than he was when he first came. Therefore, there is no more fundamental object of our bioethical reflection than: Bioethics and Education.
