englischWhether it is Keanu Reeves’ performance as an ambitious young lawyer in The Devil's Advocate (1997), or the depiction of a fighter pilot’s fate in court in the German TV film Terror – Ihr Urteil (2016): law-related narratives have always been a popular motif in film. What is at the source of the audience's unwavering fascination with cinematic reflections of the law? Based on the concept of seduction, the author makes an interdisciplinary foray into film history and demonstrates that the answer to this question lies in the cinematic staging itself. The analysis focuses on the respective desires of the audience: a desire for an encounter with various law-related myths as well as for experiencing law in film as a sensual event.
