englischA simple interpretation of legal rules is not sufficient in order to adequately approach the scrutiny of asylum cases. Rather, the asylum decision-making process requires the understanding of social and political issues in foreign countries. In its basic design however, the conventional German administrative law hardly addresses issues regarding factual knowledge generation. As a result, there is a problem of knowledge within the German asylum law. A comprehensive doctrinal examination of the inadequacies in dealing with the knowledge problem as well as a selective reconceptualization of German asylum law to partially solve the problem are subjects of this volume.
